Eavesdropped

The following is an exchange between the proprietor of a local restaurant, her son, and Ellie.

Ellie, concerned about the promixity of passing cars to the storefront: “Has anyone ever come through your window?”

Proprietor: “Yes, that’s why we have those (pointing at bars on the window). We’ve had some people get into fights outside after drinking and crash through, but that doesn’t happen often, there’s not much violence here.”

Son: “Anymore.”
